There is real fear and then there is assumed or perceived fear.
In the enterprise, assumed fear or perceived fear and thus not doing something or taking on a project just becuzz what is perceived or assumed will cause a backlash of negative reactions, can really hurt the bottom line.
Such as not showing a little skin on a TV ad with a hot honey enhancing a truck or warbird, means that TV station lost revenue(mine) and or the clubs revenue. Which multiplies throughout the club, through the membership, becuzz members will not do business, with other business’ that will not allow the integrity or continuity of the clubs messages. Thus several thousands of dollars are lost, NOT JUST mine or NOT JUST the club.
Same goes for newspapers, or other media outlets. The perceived fear or assumed fear is that , if the particular media, does print or air a slightly racy ad, the greater religious, (LDS-Mormon) community will boycott that newspaper, TV station etc. Which the assumed or perceived fear is just that assumed. Since the greater religious community really does not care, in fact most of that religious community, welcomes a fresh idea. Most would not shun such , infact I gathered when I worked part time for Deseret Transportation in Utah, (the church’ trucking company) Their head honchos who are church authorities, loved my radio shows, and TV clips I did there. Its the outside media etc that fears, the church, not the church members themselves.
But it cost the Weekly News Journal, The Voice, The Times News, FoX – 35 etc.
Then there is the curious fears of obscure or abnormal sexual practices. No I’m not tawking queer stuff here, that is not to be feared, just shunned. No I’m talking about a man being attracted more to a piece of women’s attire. Such as mine, hey I’ll admit it, I get a rush flush any time I’m around women who are wearing nylon hose. Put that with heels, you have my immediate attention. It’s the Kryptonite to this old Wolf. This caused many in both school and community officials great grief. Hey I must be really off in the head. Truth was, as I found through finally meeting , albeit by phone an expert in the field of human sexuality, Sue Rogers who does this radio show and produces the Sex With Sue Sexy Minute on HazzardAyre Radio.
Sue told me that as long as its controlled, having a sexual fetish is very healthy. Yet there are those who live here in our area, who remain anchored in the Victorian, mindset were fearful of such things. Thus , I was considered worse than Jack the Ripper. Mostly cuzz all too many feared what they did not know.
I gotta say this too. When we first brought Sue on the air throughout our network. I asked her if she’d send me something kinky? She bundled up about 8 or 9 pairs, of slightly worn, unlaundered hose of several colors and mailed them to me.
The staff nearly had their own orgasm with laughter. Many are LDS CHURCH members.
Its not to to presume or assume that something is bad or will harm us unless we try it.
