The link between us and the Dukes-of-Hazzard

IN THE AYRE HEADER

There are many who ask what the connection is between the Winged Warriors and the Dukes-of-Hazzard.

Besides the obvious that the Winged Warriors was created out of a Dukes fan club, there are more Hazzard related story lines.

Sorell Booke played Boss Hogg, that you know, but he also played a religious preacher on Black Sheep Squadron TV show.

Luke Duke, (Tom Wopat} was a Marine, and the last connection the Dukes were always called the Black Sheep, and of course Uncle Jessie was on the ole CB was the Shepard.

Military history aside, the fact that the two shows had much in common, namely many actors who played on both shows. There is a secret, two of the script writers on the Dukes previously did what is called Ghost writing for Black Sheep Squadron and yes Airwolf.

There are other connections but ya’ll get the idea.

More on the show today at 14:00 hours on KDXB FM and on AFRTS at 18:00 hours.

At least you can depend on us and changes in the organization

AyreWolf Knytecide hedderaw phootenotes

TV ad revenue must be bubbling like a fountain from an oil well. Reason I say this is, went again to the only two streaming TV news runs in Idaho, and both would not play. Went to NBC Network, Brian Williams and NBC News played all other audio and video sources flowing like milk but not KMVT or KPVI. Which begs the question are both these two stations so stuck on themselves that they’d block one viewer? Hell all I wanted was to watch the dang blooming weather. Hell I had to find out from my crew this morning how bad the roads were on I-84 between Boise and Bliss.

Someone ought to deliver a good message(and yes I am) to the FCC about the time for both stations license renewals.

If they didn’t stream the newscast I’d say okay fine, but the advertise they do, but when you can’t see it, it ain’t so either quit or get the damn thing fixed.

So then what to do? Tune into us on KDXB FM and KTOW AM and we’ll give you the news Hazzard style as well as AFRN news.

Speaking of which, it was voted on this evening at the clubs meeting here that the clubs name will be changed a bit, to reflect the new missions of the club. The AyreWolvez Aviation Association, will now be hailed as the Winged Warriors Aviation Association. Added to the current mission will also include service to active and discharged and retired Navy and Marine Aviators. We’ll be doing many veteran outreach programs, assistance programs and similar services.

I’ll get into more of this in the morning, but just know we have changed and I think you’ll appreciate us.

We now have a complete Facebook page and a Facebook Groups page for the Winged Warriors.

As we say it Warriors serving warriors.

So sorry to say good bye but hey that’s the radio business.

ayrelawg

I hate to say good bye to anyone, especially those that at first seem to have the right attitude towards our radio gig, but when many hear the words , 3 to 6 month no pay internships , they rapidly loose interest.

So it is, that for her own reasons, even Sylver decided to drop off our radar, even to the degree she sees my green light on her Facebook page saying I’m on line and she signs off until I’m gone. I don’t need a brick outhouse to fall on me to know she’s saying thanks but no thanks.

I really wish we didn’t have to put people off, on hiring, I’d like to have it where we started paying right off the tarmac. But sales of advertising is slow, but that’s always the case in radio and even TV. Thing is when we did pay the big bucks right off, especially women, they’d come in, we’d spend about $4,000.00 in training, then paying for some on air time. They’d make what in many jobs would be worth a years wages, then quit.

So we’d be there holding her chair, no one there. It was constantly calling, booking air time etc, to the point the club said, nope not going to do that any more. Honey you show us what you got, then we’ll talk about a paycheck. Kinda like a 3 month long audition.

With recent developments here with the two Mexicali mom and the one trying to be one, not doing anything , then wanting a paycheck, the club reaffirmed its policy, show up , train, then lets talk dollars.

With models and such for a variety of projects, for visuals, its different. We expect to pay up front, but only if they show up for a shoot. If they are there on time, in make-up and hair, ready to shoot, its half of a predicted time period for photography, the other half when the shoot is done and the proofs are final. Let’s face it, $800.00 for a spring or summer days work, is not bad. But then the talent is out the door after signing legal releases and they’re history unless they want to come back in the future. That’s where some of these none paid interns , make money with us, right away. That’s why I suggest the toe in the face thing right away, hey if they too can model, the talent can make immediate money, which is what I had in mind for Sylver.

Of course there is the first impression, many have never worked with a radio or rock star before, even so they see the bucks and glamour. But here we are not rock stars, even so many of them looked like something the cat drug in. As far as my little Rat rod style S-10. Sure it needs work, I’d like to, problem is, when have I had time? Radio, A1, my toew service, time in the hangar, home, shower, and if I’m lucky 4 to 6 hours of sleep and that’s on slow weeks and days. Second those who don’t know the difference between an old rat rod truck, and seeing a trailer show queen, don’t need to apply here in the first place. With us its build the thing, drive it till in blows up, rebuild it, then drive it again. Always improving the looks, or style or changing the rides attitude. But that should not be a judgment call on behalf of what we do here on WyldAyre Radio.

Then of course, there’s my threads and hair. Okay haven’t cut it in a year. Hell I’m 54 years old, what’s on my head it took two years to grow, and even if I did want to do something with it, when do I have time? It’s not about the money. Its how I am, accept me as I am, or don’t be here, that simple. But don’t count WyldAyre out because of that.

Then there is the evil mysterious spooky thing of going to someone’s house. Ooohh , hey its no big deal. What am I supposed to do, spend the clubs money on a second studio here in Twin Falls, and still nobody shows up? We did that in Gooding for nearly three months. I’d rather train a few good people here at the house, then in a month have em show up in Buhl, as well as our studio we are getting back in Gooding.

Hell it was a bunch of street honeys that suggested us to be in Twin, in 2009, between the $500.00 I had to cough up for a place here, the $1,000.00 for the network gear to link the two together and all, its no wonder I was short back then and had to wait for money from the club to pay for our place in Gooding in the first place. I should have just said, this is where the job is, come here and work, or don’t work here. Which would have thinned out the herd.

Any mile, yes it’s bad to say Good Bye, but that’s the radio business.

Taking tonight off to catch some personal time, see all Saturday.

Medicine Man with AARON Philips will be at the Canyon Crest at 9:00PM Friday. One of the best light shows there is. I’m going to try and make it.

Finger stutter and dry mouth words

aw phootenotes

Here’s an idea for all those tech geeks, out there.

How about putting together a computer keyboard for us fat fingered muscular male corpuscles out here.

Seems like I mis spell not on purpose , many words simply due to the fact these standard equipment Dell keyboards are so damn small, the keys are too small. I’m sure there’s something out there, but I ain’t found it yet.

Those ones that look like a spread open turkey aren’t bad but even those keys are to small. Forget about trying to full hand type. Just don’t work.

Then there is the dry mouth can’t talk situation. Unless you can be somewhere that has a vaporizer or humidifier going as part of the environmental controls, or system, you get dry mouth, and talking on the phone is near to impossible.

I know the geeks can’t do much about the dry mouth, but how about the keyboard. I challenge and dare a tech geek out there to build me a keyboard for a big male like me, with keys arranged so fat fingers can navigate the board, full handed .

Found a new site for us with minds in the sky, its www.warbirdpinups.com and has some great shots of some vintage winged warriors, only no helicopters. Once again we will step in.

Stay tuned.

Whatever happened to the I-80 Control and JR14 CB radio clubs of Idaho?

WYLDAYRE HEADayrelawg

If you lived in the Magic Valley area of Idaho, in the mid 1970’s early 80’s you probably had a 6 foot Shakespeare antenna coming off your hot rod, or pickup with a Cobra, Radio Shack and a bunch other brands of a thing called the CB Radio.

You also probably belonged to one of two groups, the I-80 Control CB Club, for the older folks and OTR Truckers, and for us in the younger laps of the road of life, the JR14 CB Club. Shortly after the massive I-80 Control CB / Truckers Jamboree, of 1975 the both clubs kinda broke apart to a slight degree. Many were looking for something more and leadership. Several accusations of money theft by officers and all raised at motorist coffee breaks , lead to the near collapse of both groups.

In stepped Hazzard County and most if not all members of both the I-80 Control and JR14 CB Club’s joined or merged with the Hazzard County Knytes Kustmz Association, that is now The Knytes of Anarchy the brother organization of us here in the AyreWolvez Military Aviation Association.

In view of that, and with membership building rapidly, to numbers not seen in decades, a suggestion that came from a recent article in Overdrive Magazine, that CB Radio’s popularity is again on the rise, the Knytes-of-Anarchy is looking to re-establishing a CB Radio Road Watch program. Where in CB Radio enthusiasts would monitor CB’s at home and mobile and render assistance via landline or other methods.

To that end the Knytes-of-Anarchy is looking to stage in 2014 a Knytes Reunion at the Filer Fairgrounds in Filer Idaho. Similar to the shindig we staged in 1975.

To answer the question what happened to the I-80 Control and JR14 CB Clubs? They became Knytes-of-Anarchy.

Good morning, its warm outside, maybe going to start thawing.

Virus Alert

WyldAyre Header Largehnn news

Good morning from HNN.

I was pretty much done for the night, going over much of our engineering duties here at HazzardAyre Radio.

A trial version of Internet Explorer, IE-10 popped up for download. Should have known better but thought that might cure the IE blight my Dell has with IE.

What really happens is you snag a virus. Thankfully some of my firewalls caught it, and you’d think by now I’d learn. There is no certification authorization of the program. So be warned , if you do download this, it’ll kick your computer in its complacency.

I had to reboot 5 times from 2 hard shutdowns.

Again the posted and advertised download for IE10 contains a virus, so don’t do it.

Aren’t you glad once again for HazzardAyre?

AyreWolf Knytecide hedderwyldayre hedder

Last night as it’ll be Thursday by the time most of ya’ll read this, I flipped on my computer to catch the evening news from Channel 11. Not that I’m a big fan of 11 , but they are the only streamed news in our end of Idaho, thinking of starting to watch KPVI’s broadcast, since whether or not they like someone, every viewer is welcome.

I get to thinking on this about CH-11 and while they might think I love slinging mud at them, its not, its called constructive criticism, . Unlike me and all of HazzardAyre, including us here on WyldAyre Radio, we welcome and encourage constructive criticism . how can we improve something if we don’t hear from you? How can we make better what we do for you, if you do not tell us. But Ch-11 loves to target us. Now here’s the gripe .

Like I said, went to catch the streaming news from CH-11, mostly to find out weather conditions, so I could make a go or no go decision on flying Today. Know what, the stream, even 3 minutes in their half hour newscast, no stream.

I know technical goof ups can happen, hey we here at HazzardAyre experience it all the time. However what you will find is, if we stub our feet once in awhile, you’ll know what happened and why shortly there after, on this or the other blog. You’ll know why the network or station was off, and what we are doing to fix the problem.

We won’t just ignore you. Like CH-11 does.

Okay then nuff of that.

I love all the postings on my Facebook page, about custom bikes, and rides. Thing is, the owners say they built this or that, or you’ll see a themed bike from OCC, not bad but dig this, even OCC for a long time there were really bending steel, but fell victim to just becoming skilled, but still not much more than parts assemblers.

One of the great enjoyable challenges in building or restoring a military warbird, is that much or many of the parts are no longer available. I’m not just talking sheet metal either. Airframe, powertrain all much is no longer manufactured. At best it’s a search of detailed sketches, drawings and blueprints. Then making the parts, getting those parts FAA approved then building the aircraft, beit a warbird or helo. That’s why it can take a year or so from design to final build, for our craftsman and club members, but that’s what happens when you put Hazzard County tenacity and determination to work, building those aircraft for ourselves as well as collectors.

One of the big challenges is avionics. Many of the communications systems used in these old winged warriors , are no longer used. Frequencies , radar systems etc are just not usable. So it is that we take newer avionics but package them in old cases with the look of what was there originally. Analog gauges and so on, are more difficult to find, then rebuilding them. Of course we do. But since so much of aviation has went to glass digital systems much of even the older instruments pieces are a trial by error, to rebuild for use. The ultimate goal however is to make these byrds flyable. Now we are not talking about rc planes and helos we are talking of the real thing. Much of which in raw form will set one back $200,000.00 to $500,000.00 . After its built a collector can expect to render $5, million or so. But its not the money we do this for, it’s the love of flight, the knowledge of the stories these old winged warriors can tell that you feel, with each rivet, each bolt, massaging the sheet metal.

Like something we say around the hangar, like Copenhagen, military aviation is addictive.

We keep you informed and entertained, and remember this , next time you can’t catch the streaming version of KMVT news, just be thankful and Glad you have HazzardAyre. And when you want to know what’s going on in vintage military aviation restoration, be glad there is WyldAyre Radio, we were the first and original, radio for those who love to fly.

See ya’ll at 05:00.
